established by John Kingerski
in 1960 after the closing of the Pittsburgh Livestock yards in
Pittsburgh, PA. The new site established in Mercer, PA was chosen
due to its central location which also happened to be at the juncture
of interstate highways 80 and 79.
From its inception in 1960 Mercer Livestock Auction was run by
auctioneer, John Reimold (father and grandfather respectively
of current owners, Trish and Rod Loomis). Following his father's
footsteps Bob Reimold (brother and
uncle
respectively of Trish and Rod Loomis) took over the weekly auctioneering
and ran the operations until 1980. Since 1968 Trish Loomis operated
as office manager until 1972 when she became partner in the business
with her son and current co-owner, Rod Loomis. Today, Rod Loomis
(in addition to being co-owner in the business) is the principal
auctioneer along with John Huey.
